New Show Dropped
Three guesses what the topic of this show is. Let's see...I had the aforementioned tasting with Anheuser Busch. I love beer. Dan loves beer. Beer has contributed to every Gastrologica since its inception.
You got it: Beer. While I do focus on recaping the event, we throw out all kinds of ideas and thought about different beers and different flavors. As you might imagine, this is one of our longest shows ever. Enjoy!
Yes, a little free beer and cheese and I'm shilling for a beer company, go figure.

Beer is good! Free beer, better! I am so curious about the Michelob Porter you talked about (even though I never really liked Michelob)...It would be perfect in the chocolate cherry bread I make (actually in the bread and to drink while it is baking!)

Well, you are cake girl, so you could sub it in a Guiness chocolate cake, too. Although it was pretty smoky, the chocolate would compliment it.

I think I mentioned in a comment on the previous post that the Anheiser-Bush product I had was a stout. I was wrong...and confused it with a stout that a local bar had on tap. The AB product I actually drank was called Winter's Bourbon Cask Ale. It was really really good and great for cold northern winter nights. Smokey, strong, and lots of malty goodness I really enjoy the burbon casked ales in general and this was one of the better ones I have ever had, though my favorite is Rocky's Revenge, made by a local microbrewery called Tyranena. They also have a series called "Brewers Gone Wild" and they released a Whos Your Daddy? Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Porter, which is spectacular.
Hearing about your beer tasting was interesting and I liked the idea of pairing beer and cheese and may have to try that. Last year we statred a tradition of having a fall homebrew party where myself and 3-4 other homebrewers get together, make batches of homebrew, and drink all kinds of micros and homebrews. The cheese parings would be great for that.
People often call me a beer snob because of my affinity for micros but I really enjoy almost all beer (except Bud Light, which I think tastes terrible). I am just as happy swilling down some Genuine Draft or Pabst as I am savoring a pint of Guinness. I think the real snobs are those who only drink football beer like Miller or Bud and refuse to try anything different.

At least I wasn't too far off. I remember getting in in Miami, that's the only place I've had it so far. Yeah, I like caribbean beers!
